Our Initiatives

Our Coalitions and Initiatives

DC Action is home to a series of coalitions and initiatives, either created or hosted by us, that have their own identity but that work as part of the DC Action family.

Our collaborative advocacy initiatives bring the power of young people and all residents to raise their voices to create change.

DC Kids Count

By providing high-quality data and trend analysis, DC Kids Count informs advocacy efforts to secure better futures for all children and youth and raises the visibility of kids' issues through a nonpartisan, evidence-based lens.  Our new DC Kids Count Online presents the best available District-wide data to measure and track the demographics, impacts of COVID-19, voting and democracy, education, economic justice, health and safety of the District’s children and youth.

DC OST Coalition

The DC OST Coalition advocates for access to high-quality learning opportunities beyond the classroom that prepare DC’s youth for success in education, career, and life. Our expertise is in strengthening the field of expanded learning – the afterschool and out-of-school-time programs that engage young people in high-quality enrichment, academic support, and social-emotional development. We serve a critical role in protecting and advancing an equitable expanded learning system essential for closing the opportunity gap.

Under 3 DC Coalition

Under 3 DC, a broad based coalition in the District of Columbia, harnesses the voices and power of parents with young children, early educators, advocates, and health professionals to create transformative social change. The Coalition’s efforts center on the people experiencing racial and economic injustice every day. It shines a spotlight on the need for more public investments to support families with infants and toddlers. Together, we can set the city on a path to creating and sustaining a high quality, equitable early childhood system.

DC Home Visiting Council

DC Action leads the DC Home Visiting Council and collaboratively facilitates its city-wide strategic efforts. We convene public and private partners so that home visiting programs are sustainably funded, accessible to families who need their services most, effectively designed, and well coordinated in the District of Columbia.
