Welcome Ty Jones Cox to the DC Action Team!

I'm pleased to welcome Ty Jones Cox to our DC Action team! Ty will work to rebuild our Family Economic Security policy agenda, particularly around strengthening the safety net for children and youth in the District.

As a Policy Consultant, she works with national and state policy leaders to identify opportunities to test new strategies to reduce enrollment barriers and obstacles for low-income families. Ty is an experienced and mission-driven legal and policy professional with over 15 years of experience working to end poverty and inequality.

What’s your favorite DC spot?

Ok, I have two.  Nu Vegan Cafe!  I love the food and the vibe there and I have been going there since law school when they were Woodland's Vegan Bistro.  A close second would be Busboys and Poets, a great vibe, good food, inspiring events, and even a bookstore!  What more could you want?

What's your favorite genre of music to listen to while working?

Old school hip-hop definitely!!  It keeps me motivated, alert, and also some songs may even push me to break into a quick dance.

When you were little, what did you say you were going to be when you grew up?

A lawyer. I have always wanted to be a lawyer. I took my inspiration from Claire Huxtable.  

What's your favorite app?

That's hard. I think it would be Amazon Music and Netflix. I have a little one that loves music and movies and those two apps help keep me and her both busy.  :) 

Here's the clincher...food cuisine you just can't do without?

Any Mexican food. I probably eat Mexican food at least once a week.
