I'm pleased to welcome Nisa Hussain to our DC Action team. Nisa brings her maternal and child health background and her skills in program coordination and workforce development to her role as Program Associate. She will help to advance the goals of the city’s Home Visiting Council, which DC Action for Children chairs, as well as support our early childhood campaigns.
To get to know Nisa better, we asked a few key questions:
What’s your favorite DC spot?
I'm torn between two spots--the 930 Club and Meridian Hill Park! I love live music and I have so many fun memories over the years at the 930 Club. It's the best music venue out there. I also frequent Meridian Hill Park regularly and it's my favorite spot to relax and read outside or picnic with friends.
What's your favorite genre of music to listen to while working?
Anything instrumental or even movie scores, since anything too lyrical will distract me. I also can't believe I'm admitting this, but I genuinely listen to Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" every work day to get my morning started. It's so cheesy but it's a perfect song!
When you were little, what did you say you were going to be when you grew up?
A fashion designer! I grew out of it, fortunately, when I realized I was good at sketching but just terrible at sewing.
What's your favorite app?
My favorite app is probably Evernote. I'm always jotting down to-do lists and fleeting ideas so Evernote organizes all my notes quite neatly.
Here's the clincher...food cuisine you just can't do without?
Thai food! I am very loyal to drunken noodles.
Help us give Nisa a warm welcome. She will be working with us at our Chinatown WeWork office. So pop her an email or stop by to say hello!
